The Olympic Collection

Track - Running - Women

In this garment we can see the use of stretch fabric to its full extent to restrain hair totally under a stretch hood, so minimizing air friction. At the time, this was labelled as "over the top" by sports writers, but 1988 saw Florence Griffith Joyner win race after race in a similar suit without having to shave her head like Carl Lewis. In a world where 0.1 of a second makes or brakes a world champion, the hood came out a winner.
